Surf Retreats in Pavones

Our curated surf retreats are built around Pavones’ world-class point break and the rhythm of coastal Costa Rica.

Each week includes guided surf, the Matapalo boat excursion, chef-prepared meals, curated local experiences, and a fully hosted stay steps from the Pacific.

This is a high-touch retreat designed for surfers who want progression, community, and time to reset.

The Retreat Rhythm

Mornings begin with first light, ocean air, and coffee overlooking the break before guided surf sessions in Pavones. After time in the water, guests return to the house for fresh meals, shade, and space to reset between tides.

Afternoons move between additional surf, relaxed time at the house, and curated jungle and coastal experiences. Some wander into town, some rest, some paddle back out. The rhythm is intentional but never rigid.

Evenings gather around chef-prepared dinners, conversation, and the sound of the ocean nearby. Each day follows the natural cadence of tide, energy, and choice.

Your stay at Natural Mystic is fully hosted and thoughtfully structured from arrival through departure.

• Private or shared accommodations a short walk from the break
• Guided surf sessions with Pavones-local hosts
• Signature boat-access surf excursion to Matapalo
• Daily chef-prepared breakfast, lunch, and dinner
• Curated jungle and coastal adventures
• Airport coordination and group transfer
• On-site support throughout your stay

This is a high-touch, all-inclusive surf retreat designed to let you focus on surfing, connection, and presence while we handle the details.

What’s Included

Matapalo Boat Strike Mission

One of the most unforgettable days of the retreat is our Matapalo strike mission by boat.

We launch from Pavones and cross the Golfo Dulce toward the wild coastline of the Osa Peninsula, where the remote breaks of Matapalo wait at the edge of the jungle.

Matapalo offers a completely different surf window from Pavones, with powerful right-hand point breaks and deep jungle surroundings.

Guests surf, relax on the boat, and take in the untouched beauty of this coastline while meals are prepared for the day.

The ride back across the gulf often brings sightings of dolphins, whales, sea turtles, and other marine life that thrive in the waters of the Golfo Dulce.

For many guests, this strike mission becomes one of the most memorable days of the entire retreat.

Beyond the Surf

Pavones offers more than long lefts.

When the tide slows down the coastline opens up in different ways. Jungle waterfalls, quiet trails, cacao farms, and small village moments that reveal the deeper rhythm of this place.

Some guests head out exploring. Others stay close to the house, watching the swell wrap down the point from the shade.

In Pavones, some of the best moments happen between sessions.

The Retreat House

The retreat house is where each day begins and ends.

Just minutes from the Pavones point break, the house is designed for open-air living in the heart of the jungle. Mornings start with coffee and the sound of the ocean before heading out for the first surf session.

After long hours in the water, guests return to cool off in the pool, relax in the jacuzzi, and share meals prepared by our private chef. Evenings slow down as everyone gathers, recounting the day’s waves and settling into the peaceful rhythm of Pavones.

By the end of the week, it feels like your place in Pavones.

Our curated surf retreats take place throughout the year in small groups, allowing each week to maintain the relaxed rhythm and personal experience that defines Pavones.

Who This Retreat is For

Surfers Chasing More Than a Score.

Pavones is home to one of the longest left-hand point breaks in the world, and our excursions explore remote waves along the wild coastline of the Osa Peninsula.

Guests who come here appreciate uncrowded surf, natural surroundings, and the experience of surfing in a place that still feels untouched.

Travelers Who Want the Real Pavones

This is not a packaged resort vacation. Each retreat is intentionally small, allowing guests to experience Pavones at its natural rhythm.

Boat excursions, jungle adventures, shared meals, and time in the water create a week that feels immersive rather than scheduled.

Guests Drawn to Wild Places

The Osa Peninsula is one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. Wildlife sightings, jungle hikes, waterfalls, and quiet evenings under the stars are part of daily life here.

Guests who feel drawn to wild places tend to feel at home in Pavones.

Pavones is remote, which is part of what makes it special. Most guests fly into San José and continue south toward the Golfo Dulce region before arriving in Pavones.

We provide clear travel guidance and help coordinate the final leg of the journey.
