Life in Pavones moves with a different rhythm.
A week shaped by waves, nature, and the quiet energy of the Pacific.
The Rhythm of a Week in Pavones
Mornings begin slowly. Coffee on the terrace, fresh fruit, and a quiet check of the tide as long lines begin wrapping down the point. When the swell lines up, the group heads for the water and the day begins with effortless rides along one of the longest left-handers in the world.
After the morning session, the pace softens. Lunch is shared back at the house, boards are rinsed, and the afternoon opens up. Some guests head out exploring waterfalls or jungle trails while others stretch out by the pool, watch the ocean, or simply rest between sessions.
Evenings settle into the natural rhythm of Pavones. Another surf if the tide turns on, a quiet sunset over the point, and dinner prepared by the chef while stories from the day move easily around the table.
Each day finds its own pace, guided by the swell, the tide, and the feeling of the place.
Surfing Pavones
Pavones is home to one of the longest left-hand point breaks in the world. When the swell lines up, waves can run for hundreds of meters along the jungle-covered coastline.
Most sessions begin just steps from the house, where surfers paddle out at the point and settle into long, flowing rides that define the rhythm of Pavones.
The lineup often feels more spacious than many high-profile surf destinations, giving guests room to settle into the wave and the rhythm of the place.
Throughout the week we also explore nearby surf spots, including a boat-access mission to the powerful right-hand point at Matapalo along the Osa Peninsula.
The surf quickly becomes the heartbeat of the retreat.
Beyond the Surf
While the surf is the heartbeat of Pavones, the experience extends far beyond the waves.
The surrounding jungle and coastline offer endless opportunities to explore. Guests hike to hidden waterfalls, spot wildlife along the Osa Peninsula, and experience the slower rhythm of life in this remote corner of Costa Rica.
Throughout the week we also share local experiences, from cacao tastings at the house to exploring the small village of Pavones itself.
Many guests find that the time between surf sessions becomes just as memorable as the waves. Quiet moments in nature, new friendships, and the feeling of stepping completely outside the pace of everyday life.
Shared Meals & Evenings
After long days in the water and exploring the coastline, evenings at the house become a time to slow down and reconnect.
Our on-site chef prepares fresh meals each day using local ingredients, bringing everyone together around the table to share stories from the day.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are thoughtfully prepared to fuel time in the water while celebrating the fresh ingredients and simple flavors of Costa Rica.
Whether guests prefer plant-based meals or have specific dietary needs, every meal is prepared with care so everyone can fully enjoy the experience of the table.
Dinner often flows into relaxed evenings by the pool or under the open sky, with the sounds of the jungle and the Pacific in the distance.
These moments of good food, conversation, and the rhythm of Pavones often become some of the most memorable parts of the retreat.
The Rhythm Is Flexible
While each retreat week includes curated experiences and surf sessions, the rhythm is always yours to follow.
Some guests surf for hours each day, chasing long walls at the point. Others spend mornings relaxing by the pool, exploring town, or enjoying quiet time at the house.
Every activity is an invitation, never an obligation.
We encourage guests to experience Pavones. Its waves, wildlife, rivers, and the rhythm of the village are part of what makes this place so special. At the same time, we understand that many people arrive here needing something deeper. They need space to slow down, breathe, and reset.
If your body calls you to rest, that is respected. If the waves are firing and you want to surf from sunrise until sunset, that is welcomed too.
Whether you choose to join every adventure or simply settle into the slower pace of Pavones, the retreat is designed to give you space to move at your own rhythm.
